Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage introduced herself as a solo album artist with “Once Upon A Time”, her 2013 debut studio album.

The project arrived during the early years of her Mavin Records era, building on the momentum of singles such as “Kele Kele” while establishing the blend of Afrobeats, R&B, and pop that would become central to her sound.

Released on July 2, 2013, the 21-track album features appearances from artists including Don Jazzy, Leo Wonder, General Pype, and Wizkid. Songs such as “Love Me Hard,” “Without My Heart,” “Folarin,” and “Olorun Mi” help give the project its broad musical character.

More than a decade later, “Once Upon A Time” remains an important early chapter in Tiwa Savage’s career, documenting the period when she was establishing her identity as one of Nigeria’s leading female Afrobeats voices.
